11 Cultural Commissions
Heritage Commission
The Commission is responsible for advancing and preserving the heritage sector in the Kingdom by proposing a strategy in line with the National Strategy for Culture and following up on its implementation after its approval by the Ministry. In addition, it will propose laws and regulations to enhance the sector's operating environment.
Museums Commission
The Museums Commission's role is to develop this important sector, presenting the Kingdom’s identity, history, heritage and culture to all. The Commission does this by strengthening and enhancing the quality of museums in line with international best practice, encouraging investment and boosting career opportunities within the museum and related sectors.
Architecture and Design Commission
The Architecture and Design Commission was established in February 2020 as one of 11 commissions under the Ministry of Culture. One of the commission's key objectives is to regulate the sector, including supporting and encouraging practitioners, organizing exhibitions and seminars, and stimulating creative thinking.
Culinary Art Commission
The Commission focuses on supervising the development and advancement of Saudi culinary arts and its components. It seeks to introduce Saudi cuisine locally and globally and take pride in the culinary heritage and talent in this sector.
Fashion Commission
The Fashion Commission aims to develop the sector, driving its advancement and supporting practitioners in the field. Accordingly, the commission sets a new strategy to enhance and boost the fashion sector and proposes new projects to increase its contribution to the economy.
Film Commission
Established in February 2020 and based in Riyadh's capital, the Film Commission is a Saudi government body affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. The commission aims to advance the film sector and the production environment in Saudi Arabia and stimulate and empower Saudi filmmakers.
Libraries Commission
The Commission oversees the development of the libraries sector, which includes proposing and implementing strategies and proposing draft laws and regulations, amending and submitting them to the Ministry of Culture to complete statutory procedures.
Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission
The role of the Commission is to regulate and manage the literature, publishing, and translation sectors in the Kingdom. Its purpose is to work towards the goals of Vision 2030 and the Saudi National Culture Strategy: promoting our culture as a way of life, enabling it to contribute towards economic growth, and creating opportunities for international cultural exchange.
Music Commission
The Music Commission oversees the music sector development that provides non-discriminatory access to music education, empowers musical talent, and contributes to the local economy. It aims to increase the economic contribution of the music sector through job creation, sector regulation, and by building world-class infrastructure.
Theater and Performing Arts Commission
The commission is the patron of all types of performing arts, namely: theater, dance, circus, stand-up comedy, street performances, ballet, and the opera. This includes the activation and management of theater houses and performance venues while encouraging quality of content, increased production, and the dissemination of performing arts as an essential component of national culture.
Visual Arts Commission
The Visual Arts Commission seeks to nurture the talent of art enthusiasts, practitioners, and professionals in Saudi Arabia, and support the production and exhibition of artwork in all its forms, locally and internationally. Through supporting Saudi Arabia's visual arts, the commission aims to preserve the Kingdom's heritage, celebrate the flourishing present, and build a future with culture and creativity at its core.
